Nearly 45 - 50ºF forecast for the weekend, Snow for Monday.

Max predicted temp for this area is 45 on Sat. We still have snow and max predicted temps of 36 for the next couple days. Light snow falling from the sky now. Rather unusual cold for this late in March in this area. Incredible difference between this March and last year. Last year it was almost hot and I remember running the AC for a spell. This March quite wintery.

No! Phil beats the rap when charges are dropped. No groundhog for Easter. Ohio DA drops charges.

A winter-weary Ohio prosecutor who filed a tongue-in-cheek criminal indictment against the famous Pennsylvania groundhog over his "prediction" of an early spring dropped the charge Tuesday. Butler County Prosecutor Mike Gmoser said Punxsutawney Phil has a "defense with teeth in it" since the animal's handler is taking the blame.

Well, there's no such thing as a free ride. The handler is being considered for impeachment.

Tough crowd.

LINK (was that really a joke? Or cabin fever?) (http://www.post-gazette.com/stories/news/us/ohio-prosecutor-drops-charge-against-phil-the-groundhog-680979/)

He assured Ohio's lesser-known fuzzy forecaster, Buckeye Chuck, he won't face prosecution for his own erroneous prediction. Chuck, it turned out, was granted immunity after agreeing to cooperate with the state.
"I'm kind of done with animal cases," Mr. Gmoser said. "Maybe another prosecutor can go after the Easter Bunny."

So some say...

In the small town of Eden, N.Y., the recent appearance of mysterious circles in a frozen pond has residents baffled.
Last Friday, during an early spring snowstorm, Eden resident Peggy Gervase was looking at the pond near her home when she noticed an unusual pattern in the snow covering the water's surface: large circles that resembled giant polka dots.
"I've never seen this before in our pond," Gervase told local TV station WGRZ (http://www.wgrz.com/news/article/207717/1/Backyard-Mystery-In-Eden-Pond-Circles-). "It's eerie in a way, but cool in a way."
After Gervase posted a photograph of the pond circles to the station's Facebook page, respondents offered a number of explanations for the strange circles, including elephant footprints, fish flatulence and aliens.

Something about those theories smells fishy.

While scooting around, one direction I had to fight the wind while in the other the tailwind gave me such a boost that I did zero to 35 in under 3 seconds. Yep, South west wind straight from the Channel ( North Sea) with the blue sky sunny and the antenna farm swaying about in the wind whistling and all, tthat was funny to see.
Normally storms go with heavy clouds pissing down rain and all that nice stuff...

Is that off the North Sea? I find that winds off of water are not like any other kind of wind. We'd get them off the Atlantic in Brooklyn and it was like an invisible wall. Solid too.

I've always liked that kind of weather. I miss seeing a storm come in from the sea. There's a build-up much like a good book, then if it's a big one, BAM! Winds and rain. Great time for Clam Chowder and tea. That's the only thing I miss here in the hill country. The weather is more like what I used to see in NYC when I was a teenager though.

Overcast again and barely hit 60°F (16°C). With the wind it felt more like 45°F (7°C).

Yes, I have noticed that too. The Brooklyn winds were like brick walls. When I lived in East NY Brooklyn I experienced the winds that would come in off the Atlantic and the lower bay. They were unlike any winds I ever experienced anywhere. I remember riding my bike as a kid up by the Ridgewood Reservior and getting knocked over hard by a 25 mph wind coming in from the ocean. It was as if I rode into an invisible brick wall. Not to mention the hard gusts that would hit the buildings, smashing windows, breaking walls, and smashing cars leaving them as if they had a head on collision with an invisible truck. Living inland these days the winds are different. Winds rolling in over land don't pack anywhere near the punch of winds off water. I say for a 20 mph wind off water it would take an an 80 mph wind over land to match it in strength.. I feel its in a 4:1 ratio.

Only 48 degrees, overcast and very windy here in the Northeast. A few days ago it was in the 80's, hot and humid. Then the system responsible fopr the twisters and thunderstorms out west came through and brought us a barrage of Tstorms and cooling weather. This was closely followed what looks like a noreastyer which is now producing rain, winds, and apparently pulling down some nice cold Canadian aire. I hear smome parts of the Northeast even had a bit of snow... In late May... Personally I love this weather. I wish it would get no warmer than this all summer. Keeps the neighbors quiet and out of sight and feels comfortable. At least to me is does.

Tropical storm Andrea is clobbering us here. Intense winds (at least 90-100 mph) torrential rains and flooding everywhere.. Almost as bad here as during hurricane Sandy. So far we are holding our own but I don;t know how long the power and phone will hold out. This is bad shot and a precursor of what is yet to come. I predict a massica Cat 6 hurricane hitting thios October entirely annihilating the northeast. Sea water is washing up my driveway and I am many miles from the shore.

Well it sure packed a wallop here. Fortunately the intense winds died down before they could produce too much damage. A few trees and wires down in a few places but everything along my road is standing and okay. Bad flooding throughout the area from Brooklyn up through Westchester and beyond. Lot of roads underwater and washed out. Travel will be rough for the next week or so.

Linkolent Weather (http://www.newser.com/article/da6scas83/a-threat-brewing-from-iowa-to-mid-atlantic-massive-thunderstorms-strong-winds-hail.html)

Meteorologists were even warning about the possibility of a weather event called a derecho (duh-RAY'-choh), which is a storm of strong straight-line winds spanning at least 240 miles. The storms are also likely to generate tornadoes and cause power outages that will be followed by oppressive heat, said Russell Schneider, director of the National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla.

Pope Carlo, let me explain something to you about Guam... Guam is corrupt, those numbers are taken at the bottom of wells in the airforce base. Never seen a temp in the 70’s for 4 years. There is never a day that goes by less than 95 F lately. The last week it has been 97-100 F. These numbers are used to attract Japanese tourist. You literally can not go outside before 5 pm. I know Indiana can be blazing and humid. But 114 or greater and dry ain't no bargain and will kill you even quicker. You'll dehydrate and collapse before you know it, if you end up caught in the sun for too long.

Personally I'll take neither. I consider 70 degrees too hot. I'll take sub freezing temps over high dry or humid heat any day. An ideal high summer temp for me would be 50-60 degrees. Give me a place that has short warm/hot seasons and long extended cool/cold seasons. The less hot or warm weather the better.

> 100 degrees is unfit for human habitation AFAIK. That is an oven, not a place to live.

True about the lightning, that doesn't happen for a few weeks yet. I've been working outside a lot lately, and I really don't mind the 110+, but several hours in the 120+ is a whole different thing. There is a big difference between being outside in the heat, and doing demanding physical labor in it. This old mans body isn't quite as forgiving as it used to be, but I still stay very active, and it isn't golfing, swimming and fun shit like that. I don't mind getting the heart rate up and sweating at all, in fact, it's probably good for me.

I'll tell you one thing, I'll take 110 all day long, over freezing temps and snow. You can keep that stuff. At least I don't have to shovel the heat.

When I lived in Tucson, I noticed it got much more precip than here. Not me. I consider 70 degrees too hot. As soon as temperatures reach the 70's the air conditioning comes on here. I prefer the freezing cold and the ice to hot weather anytime. Last couple days it's been in the 90's with high humidity. But I've managed to keep the temp down to about 68-69 inside. God bless air conditioning. 110-120 degrees ? To me that is an oven and not meant for human habitation.
