    In my case it's the opposite. I (and other family members) are protecting our cat. The cat (we call him Owen or Louie) is diabetic and is presently suffering from congestive heart failure causing heavy breathing issues. When you see a cat breathing through its mouth you know that it is in distress. So now in addition to a daily shot of insulin (which he's been getting for years), he is on a strong diuretic to clear tissue edema from in the lungs. It seems to be helping but it's also making him very tired. All he can do is basically sit in one place most of the time. Really sad.

    Sounds like he has kitty cardiomyopathy. I sympathize with the poor guy.
