Not skip, tropospheric ducting. It happens a lot in the late summer. Sometimes I hear repeaters from way up north down here in San Diego and SoCal hams QSO with hams in Hawaii on 2m.

All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.
