since i know we have some type 2 diabetics here ...

anyone using vyctoza? it's an injectible (like byetta) non-insulin. after a very stressful N months i had some bloodwork done on wednesday ... serum glucose was > 260 (!) and a1c was > 10 ... these are fasting results (which matters less for a1c, but still). i'm already using short and long acting insulin and metformin er 2x2gm daily.

vyctoza seems to have a good record for reducing serum glucose and a1c but has a very interesting black box warning ...

Hmmm... never heard of that particular medicine. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in early January. They put me on metformin. My blood sugar is now under control, my fasting levels are in the normal range and my levels after a meal are quite good also provided I go easy on the carbohydrates. I have also lost a significant amount of weight which probably helps as well.
I keep my 2 feet on the ground, and my head in the twilight zone.

Never tried it. I returned to a vegan based diet, this time with no booze and very few toxins. I was taking 2mg of Amaryl per day. The doc took me off the diabetic meds. My last 2 A1C tests have been 5.3, 5.5. I can now eat a banana and the glucose will read 110 a half hour later. I will always be a type 2 diabetic, but hopefully the symptoms will stay managed. I was very ill last year and had to take injectable insulin a few times. The mostly raw foods diet seems to be working.

I have never heard of it, is it that pen that you dial up your doseage? My big problem is way low blood sugar like in the 50's - 60's after a nights sleep. Insulin pump was to take care of that, but it didn't, so they put me back on Metformin 500mg twice a day which seems to be working so far.

I have had D2 for many years...Took off 10kg of weight three years ago from 86kg now average 76kg...Still have a bit of a gut...Metformin 2 x 1000mg daily and a supplement one Trajenta 5mg daily ..Three monthly blood sugar average 7.1...This hasn't changed much over the years...I hate Metformin...Makes you shit funny..At my age I really don't care much any more and eat what I like within sensible reason..I have the odd Disney spell but that is a combination of low blood sugar and blood pressure..I still have 10 toes and can actually see them these days but from the knees down I have very little skin sensation...The dick doesn't work very well any more either..

I find some people go overboard and restrict themselves too much with food but a healthy diet three meals a day and exercise is probably the best way to live with diabetes...However keep well informed and have regular checkups with your GP and D2 can be managed quite ok..

that'll never work for me--there aren't enough vegans in my circles to eat.

    That's easy—move to Portland.
All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.
