Salad Shooter
HaaaHa Ha Haa! That's what I used to call this guy I worked with after he came out, so to speak, about the stuff he and his GF did. She was 25 years older that him and a vicious drunk. At first I asked him if perhaps it wasn't such a good idea for him to talk to guys at work about such things, especially since it involved his backside and the sewer pipe where his mouth was going. Well, he wasn't dissuaded and kept it up. Don't Ask, Don't Tell would have been a good company policy at that time, just for him. No one else felt the need to talk about their private dalliances at home or elsewhere while on the job.

This was about October and in November I found a "Salad Shooter" still new in the box for $2 at the flea market. I gave it to him for Christmas. It was a hoot but he wasn't phased. He still talked about the kind of personal stuff I mentioned earlier but by now his claim to fame was his half-sister having anal sex with Marlyn Manson after a show in Atlanta. Believe me, the list with this guy kept growing. Could have written a book, made a movie.

Although that doesn't apply to the Big Ass Table since there was nothing new about it. People have been hacking similar things in their garages since at least the late 1990s. The whole Microsoft Surface announcement was nothing more than an attempt to steal some of Apple's thunder immediately after they announced the iPhone. It didn't work. I think MS has sold no more than a few hundred Surface computers since the ad that parody was based on was released back in 2006.

I try not to be too much of a Scrooge when it comes to this time of year. I know lots of people enjoy it, but I really do not. But I avoid pissing on everyone's good time..

I decided over a month ago that I wasn't going to cross half way across the country to spend Xmas with the family. It's expensive, I can only be there 3 days, and there's a 80% chance it'll be as cold in FL as it is in Denver. :P So I made up my mind I was going snowboarding in Loveland.. until 20 minutes ago. I just got a serious guilt trip from my Dad. And I told him if he paid for it, I'd come.. and he called my friggin bluff. Bastard. :)

Nothing says ho ho ho like spending 8 hours in an airport, 8 hours on a plane, and 4 hours on the highway to visit for 2 1/2 days..

I don't miss my old job (except the money) I had to travel several times a month. Get up at 3:00 am, spend 10 hours standing in line, in flight, waiting on connection, driving one hour to customer's plant, leave there late, Hotel @ 11:00 pm sleep @ 12:00. 3 hours sleep. reverse order the next day. I hate that. You could take up drugs. it is not too late :-)
