Okay, self-esteem has never been my strong suit but even I have limits as to what I'll take.
So do you have a problem with Astroglide or Tin Foil Parades?
Somehow neither should effect your self esteem.

You'd need a good antenna. Most ships/boats keep the power turned down to 5W or less unless they're out on the open ocean.
QRP, eh? Huh. Figures.
Well, have one of those R.S. scanner "base" antennas around here somewhere. Slightly better than a rubber duck or a coat hanger, but not much I bet. Just gotta locate all the pieces.
I'm guessing there would be the occasional river pilot traffic while en route from the Port of Astoria to points east as well as Port chatter all up & down the river at the various ports. Not to mention all the fisher dudes out there. Lots of river traffic on the water.
Most of the personal stuff would be all on cell phones, but maybe it would add to the occasional squelch breaks above and beyond what I get with the sheriffs office and the fire departments in our fair county.
It takes a lot less time to take down your antenna farm that it does to put it up. Easier, too, since gravity works in your favor, but not as much fun. There is now no externally visible evidence that a ham radio op lives here.

I am reminded of an episode inside the Montgomery Ward's. I was 13 and we were in there one evening oh, sometime around November.
In the hardware section they had a display for expanding construction foam. The foam was sprayed on to a piece of cardboard and was about the size of a basketball. I was that caramel looking stuff but it looked like caramel puke. I looked at it for a second and reached out with my index finger to touch it. Juuust before I came within a half inch of it, it jumped on my finger and was up half of a sleeve of my coat.
I was just standing there looking at it as if I was dazed or something. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how if got on me so fast! What I haven't told you yet will be totally shocking.
When we got there there was no one around it. OK, are you following me? The guy at that section, dressed in his 1974 satin shirt in 1977 showed up 30 seconds later. Apparently, 30 seconds before we got there, he just sprayed the foam there! SHOCKING? SHOCKING? SHOCKING!

When the inspector and I lifted the floor hatch over the bilge during the prepurchase survey, he laughed. "Good thing you have that little vacuum cleaner" he said "because you're gonna need it to clean the dust out of the bilges."
There is a small accumulation of water in the very bottom of the keel well. The boat has a manual pump that I use about once a week but I recently bought an automatic unit to put down there. That's near the top of the to-do list.

I've seen dump trucks in WV with, I shit you not, 4 & 5 tag axles as well as the standard tandem on the rear. That should make its GVW at around 88,500 for 5 tags.....that's a lot for a class 8 dump truck. Am I doing the math right? 34k for the tandems, 12k for the steer, 42500 for 5 tags. No, back in Lizardbreath the manager would open a room when a tenant skipped and left clothes and other goodies behind to be cleaned out, then get drunk and pass out for the rest of the day. So you see, it wasn't a passed out drunk fan, it was a passed out drunk manager. Get some Gonella style bread, slice it an inch thick, and brush each side with virgin olive oil and sprinkle some garlic powder and salt (lightly) on each side. Pan fry each side until golden. Cover top with mozzarella cheese and a teaspoon of crappy bottled red gravy.
Cover pan for a minute until cheese is melted.
Eat- and send thank you note :)
I have this thing about garlic: only use fresh garlic from the USA. Peel it, slice or dice. I often just use it cracked open.
Here's a quick and easy midnight snack on a soft tortilla with maters and ovaries.

I have the TV on, and I'm watching different news channels. Many have been focusing on the anti Trump protests/riots, especially the ones turning violent. The ones where windows are being broken, business looted, and other property being destroyed. As usual, I'm sue it is a small segment of the protesters, many who probably don't even know what the cause is, that are causing the problems. The same fuckers that will use any excuse to carry on, and be the catalysts of all the violence. But still............. And then I see other protests comprised of huge numbers of people with signs, chanting, marching, shutting down public roadways; for the most part, peaceful civil disobedience.
The one thought that keeps coming back to me over and over is, "I wonder how many of these people actually voted?

I'm glad somebody came up with that Hipster Nativity Scene to piss off Bible thumpers and Televangelists who will be screaming bloody murder until Judgement Day sends them to their just rewards in the flaming depths of HELL. Jesus may hate fags, (I don't) but how do you think He feels about those exploiting him to get rich? Heh heh heh.
"Ever drink alcohol? Specifically, alcoholic root beer available in the beer aisle."
It started with Manischewitz adding grain alcohol to fruit juice and calling it wine, then there came bum wine much cheaper. Add it to apple juice like Boone's Farm (nother bum wine), put the same shit in a different bottle, sell it in a better neighborhood for 3 times the price and you've got Angry Orchard as far from good hard cider as Earth is from Mars. That having been said, if I want to get drunk on root beer and I don't, I can put a couple of shots of Ever Clear in a frosted mug of Stewart's.
Note to bartender: Save the empties from your expensive high class drinks, after hours mix up some of my concoctions and put the bottles back on the shelves behind the bar. The Alpha Hotel will turn more profit and will reward you for your idea if you don't tell anybody where it came from. Should you or a member of your AHB team be killed or captured KB2VXA will disavow any knowledge of your existence. Good luck Charles, this post will self destruct... maybe.

I'm not a huge drinker anymore due to a genetic condition that flips a switch at about some time after age 50 and makes you feel like you're pushing 68. The one thing I want to try right now is stouted whiskey. That's where the cask age stout beer in used whiskey barrels then use those same barrels afterwards to age another batch of whiskey.
I've had the beer aged in used whiskey barrels and didn't care for it but I bet the whiskey that comes out of those barrels is absolutely divine.

Did'ja hear a lot of generators running in the marina?
Not a lot of them, no. Some of the large yachts had theirs going but there are not many of those at this marina. Most of the boats here are between 30 and 40 feet (and unoccupied) with only a few really large boats. There's one 60+ foot powerboat down at the end of my dock and a very large fiberglass hulled staysail schooner a couple of rows to the north. I've walked over and looked at that thing, it's truly rugged and massive but I can't figure out for what purpose it was built. I think it might have been a blue water ocean racer—there's a class of offshore schooner racing—because there are almost no portlights.
Just FYI, at 30'-1" LOA, my boat is the smallest one they would allow for a live-aboard.
