Hello.

Anybody remember what a HiFi was?
This is a really fancy cabinet with a record player in it, very little electronics in a massive cabinet.
Console? a TV with a radio in a very fancy cabinet.
Got me some cheap.
The console was my first task.
It had a record player at one time but was missing, big hole.
The radio portion was "MPX stereo ready" meaning mono.
Only one amplifier but a place for 2.
The TV was an old RCA Victor with a somewhat round tube, broken.
Remote control for everything is this ultrasonic unit that runs off the power supply for the amplifier, motors turn the pots.
I pulled the chassis of the TV and radio, stripped for parts.
In place of the TV is a LCD display.
I kept the front end of the radio, complete with dial pointer and knobs, tuning cap and pots, and of course, motor control.
Replaced the speakers with car stereo speakers and run a 50 watt per channel car amplifier.
30 Amp 12 volt supply runs everything, including the TV.
In place of a record changer there is now a home CD/DVD player and a 2 meter/440 rig.
I got a solid state home type stereo chassis and connected it to the original radio front end.
I left the original power supply in to run the remote control but did replace the rectifier with diodes.
I added a rectifier and filter/regulator circuit to the filament supply, 12.9 volts at 7 amps max.
Minus 6 volts, 12.9, 45, 90, and 135 volts are now available if ever needed.
Selenium rectifiers were everywhere.
This all sits in a really nice cabinet that when closed looks like a piece of fancy furniture.
Nothing about it says geek or ham in any way.
I remote the mic with a section of cat 3 cable and have that next to the sofa.
And, the cabinet went for cheap, $20 at a sale, complete with the giant remote.
