    Re: Free super CB radio!

"The ‘ping’ in Browning Golden Eagle was due to the slight laps in the keying relay."
Nope, it was a 20uF cap across the mute terminals inside the receiver that held the B+ on until the charge decayed.

"When I had my CB shop in the mid ‘70’s a lot of folks brought their Browning’s to me so I could extend the time for them."
I had a nice little racket going for me in the opposite direction, they paid me $20 to de-ping them and I got a perfectly good electrolytic out of the deal.

Oh and BTW, once upon a time there was a klunking contest going on between a few who used Dow Key relays. There were several additions to the big klunkers and soon enough somebody figured out that removing the long cabinet screws from a Valiant made a neat sounding BONK. Not to be outdone someone bolted a water valve solenoid from an old Bendix washing machine to a steel office desk and connected it across the Dow Key. Eat your heart out Browning bozos, back in the late 60s and early 70s channel 21 in New York sounded like the Anvil Chorus!

I leave you with this thought, never mind the paper clip in the D-104 when a wooden ruler stuck under the base makes such an interesting sound and you can play it like a musical instrument too.
