Yeah I had quite a few of those myself. For long range we took a piece of bamboo and cut between the knuckles, making a pocket for the dirt clod to sit in. Whip that thing over head and you get about 3 times the arm range.

Biblical weaponry! In the Old Testament it was all desert and they didn't have bamboo so that's why David used a sling against Goliath.

I once had a sling but never got the knack of using it. Sometimes it went right into the ground and on more than one occasion straight up and lost in the sun. Lot of hands on the head duck and cover! I had an old style wooden sling shot with surgical tubing. Put a nice big rock in it and stretched it out for more power. Forgot to lower my aiming thumb, took a few weeks for my nail to grow back.

Building ramps out of ice and snow at the bottom of hills to see how far we could jump our sled out onto the skating pond.

I had Blondies eat to the beat album and the monkees greatest hits.

Reminds me of a McDonald's commercial (the idea of the title to the Blondie album) of the early 80's. Break dancing had just went mainstream and the commercial included a lot of repeat motion of people putting McNuggets in their mouths.
Suddenly there was a Max Headroom. Late night TV got um, interesting to say the least. I can't find the woman on Google who would show up in short clips doing odd bits. Tina Tanuta? Memory is a bit rusty on that.
