    Yet somehow, that was a very popular knot to learn... back in the day.

    Considering how the Hangman's Noose is being used by so many racists to intimidate minorities, though, that's not something I'd go out of my way to learn today.

    I was just sitting there and out of the blue, in my mind I hear, "Rabbit goes up the hole, around the tree and back down again" -- a bowline knot. Yes, also well over 50 since I tied one.

    Still use 2 half hitches on a regular basis

    That is how I learned to tie that knot as well.
    Do whatever it takes to avoid fooling yourself into believing that something is true when it is false, or that something is false when it is true.

    Anyone who ties a fishing hook or lure to a line using a clinch knot is effectively tying a noose.

    As with most things in life, it's the intent and not the tool which is at fault.
