Allstar. Can anyone let me know what it's all about?

Yes, i know its a digital voice mode...

I'm curious as to whether it is its own proprietary service such a D-Star, Fusion etc... or is it compatible with any of them.

I've been thinking about trying to set up a node in the big truck so I can use a small HT with a node and run it tethered to my cell data. I just cant get any idea on whether it is simple or not. Google searches turn up some hardware but no technical help or descriptions on how to get one working nor what specific radios or computers will work.

Anyone happen to have a crash course on what i need computer wise and radio type?

    Thanks guys

Thanks. That was the 1st video i watched. Over the last few days, ive taken a crash course on all of this.

Im working on getting a micro-node.com nano ae for the big rig. That runs Allstar. Planning on tethering the node to my cell so i dont have to hunt down a repeater.

Also, im really looking hard at D-Star and the ID51A Plus2. That rig it seems can get plugged right into my S9 and using Terminal, i can get connected to the dstar system without any external equipment like a node or computer. Just cellphone and HT... at least thats what it looks like. Im exploring more options.

Ive already worked with Fusion. The Micronode guy also makes a portable hotspot that can connect to almost all the DV modes. I liked the Fusion system. Used it a lot on the Texas Nexus a few years ago running up and down i35. I never had a node or net connection for that and ran it straight RF with a FT3200 C4FM rig.

    Hrm.
Primates evolved over millions of years, I evolve in seconds...Mankind pays lip service to peace. But it's a lie...I am inevitable, my existence is inevitable. Why can't you just accept that?
