    Microsoft Hijacked My Computer

I went through this update process (from 1803) to Win 10-"1903", it took like an hour with multiple restarts, when it was over, I had to restart my PC and log back in.

Upon logging back in, I was sent to a "Temporary platform" without access to any of my usual Desktop activities; anything that I created would not be saved when I logged out was the prompt that I received. I was prompted to log back in to fix the problem so, I logged back in to my LIVE, account at outlook and *my* computer came home to me.

My Win 10 computer is nothing more that a dumb-terminal / Client with storage; without the permission of Microsoft, I cannot use my computer or the Windows software that I purchased.

I downplayed the fact that the same desktop shows up on both of my Win-10 computers; what happened to local machines?

    Check this out:

All these active connections running in the background! WTF?

BTW, I don't see anything running on Port 80.

EEK! WTF is right. Micro$haft has a bad habit of sending bad updates and it looks like this is one. Certain apps need access to the Internet, otherwise a machine should have NO open ports, it's called stealth mode. Hackers run a port scan and if they find one open it's a doorway for mayhem. But then you know that, maybe you know about Shields Up! that reveals any open ports too. I make monthly full backups (C primary & D data volume) as the court of last resort for Murphy's brother Justin Case should System restore fail or some other cat ass trophy occur. How about you? I'd back out of that creepy mess ASAP.

Time to look at Linux again.

For those who might be interested, The seventh generation core (Intel) (sixth generation core for Xeon) and the newer AMD Zen will not be able to run Microsoft OS before Windows 10. This is the Microsoft-Intel-AMD collusion. But you can run any version of Linux, OSX. This should also boost Linux stock even more, as Microsoft once again angers its user base. More Here...

Why do you think we call it Micro$haft and sometimes Micro$atan? They say it makes things easier, what it makes easier is firing more of their overworked and underpaid developers. They're well known for waffling, outright lying (spyware disguised as security updates among other things) and unscrupulous business dealings that the EU stomped on hard, (America loves criminals) so we'll have to watch this and see where the slippery snake goes.

I am non-partisan, and like all operating systems.

Mostly use Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, and have very few problems.

My PC condom brand of choice (paid) is BitDefender.

Now I have had issues at times with WInders upgrades...
I always create a restore point, before upgrading.

I have had to "roll back" just twice. Paused updates.
Waited for the storm clouds to abate, and then,

    Upgraded.

I like the Linux inside Windows that is oot and aboot now.
    Pretty handy.

If it weren't for this infernal learning disability I would have learned Linux long ago because unlike Windblows it's secure by nature and doesn't need all the lousy updates. I'm pretty much fed up with problematical WindBLOWS and wish I could chuck it, especially now since Micro$haft has its testicles... tentacles wrapped around Intel, Qualcomm, and AMD making it the latest W10 or nothing. They like Linux however, an interesting twist. https://www.theverge.com/2016/1/16/1...essors-skylake

The link I provided made this statement:

    Why is Microsoft doing this?

Windows 10 must succeed at all costs. It's Windows 10 or bust.

I know, it's as with everything these days, it's all about money. Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm didn't have to get involved with Micro$atan, BUT they're just as greedy. There's money (savings) in their pots, they don't have to pay their boffins to include architecture for legacy Windblows systems. I don't know why Linux is unaffected, I'm just a country bumpkin chewing on a wheat straw and smoking the patch in the middle of the corn field with rice papers.

Oh David, the movie is never on TV, I had forgotten that scene until I stumbled across that tongue radar device yesterday. http://www.technovelgy.com/ct/Scienc...sp?NewsNum=603 NOW 2 has met and merged with 2 at Yoyodyne, a growing excited company, where the future begins tomorrow. The Yoyodyne Division (also known as Yoyodyne Propulsion Systems or YPS) was a shipbuilding entity. In the 22nd century the YPS pulse fusion was utilized in DY-500-class colony ships. In the 24th century the Division built starships for the United Federation of Planets at various shipyards including 40 Eridani A Starfleet Construction Yards, Copernicus Ship Yards, and San Francisco Fleet Yards. The firm had an office on Deep Space 9's Promenade, it's seen listed on the directory. As long as I got stuck on the Star Trek-Buckaroo Banzai connection, two starships in the Next Generation fleet have connections. The Excelsior* builder plaque bears the motto "No matter where you go, there you are." a phrase uttered by Buckaroo himself, and the Sutherland not only was built by Yoyodyne Propulsion Systems, the motto is a John Lennon quote, "There will be an answer, let it be." Easter eggs are everywhere, you just have to look for them, like the GNDN conduits in the original series, goes nowhere does nothing.

    * Excelsior: Jean Shepherd sometimes worked the phrase "Excelsior, you fat head!" into his monologue.
