Looks like tweakers got ahold of your railroad trestle. I didn't realize that there was enough scrap copper on a railroad trestle for tweakers to come along and dismantle.

    Like that post was...
Moving on, my posts are not helpful

Shame is that it was being dismantled by CSX in 1984 when the city of Athens GA purchased it to keep it from being demolished any more. It is the same Trestle that is pictured on the back cover REMs' 1983 album Murmur. They are building a bike path on the old right of way and they are trying to decide whether to restore the trestle 100%, add a new section and restore what is left, or demolish the whole thing and put up a new bridge over the stream and valley. I am hoping it is the first.

The first picture is the trail from the south at grade level looking at the demolished end.

    Thanks Charles.
they were taken with an older Canon Rebel XT in auto landscape mode.
For most I used a Canon EFS 10-18mm lens and a couple were with an EFS 18-55mm lens. I like the 10-18 as you can get the larger items ina picture without having to back up to a point where stuff gets in the way.

Restore it, then I would say that about anything railroad. Some work for local tradesmen there perhaps, no hurry to complete it, take your time and enjoy.

There's currently an 11-16mm attached to the D7100. Because the sky is big.

We have a old wooden RR bridge here just south of Vidalia, Georgia off of route 15 over Rocky Creek. If I had a camera I would take a few pictures.

To a rail fan the automobile is an invention we could do without. Sun kinks are testament that railways need rail fans.

I saw were they now weld the rails together as they come out the factory and get loaded on to a special rail car for a total length of 1/4 mile each.
