    Parts sources for builders

Some of my own (and others') favorite parts suppliers:

    http://www.danssmallpartsandkits.net/

    http://www.surplussales.com/

    http://www.electronicsurplus.com/

    http://www.circuitspecialists.com/

    http://www.apexelectronic.com/

    http://www.allelectronics.com/?iorb=4764

    http://www.kitsandparts.com/

    http://www.palomar-engineers.com/

Made this a sticky - anyone wishing to add to the list, please do so!

This could be a valuable resource for builders! <edit by ad4mg>

    You found some good ones.

I can "walk" to All Electronics and drive to Apex in 15 mins, it's only 5 mins from HRO in Burbank.

Apex has an offshoot company called "Apex Jr." which is also very good.

And they have about 100x more stuff in the warehouse than they advertise on the web, for some reason (probably lack of understanding how to put stuff on the net effectively).

Excellent. I have all those links and have spent money at half of them at least. Bravo for posting it....

I have just ordered some toroidal power transformers from

    http://www.antekinc.com

They make a range of toroidal power transformers ranging from low voltage to 8oo volts....Many home brewers in VK and Europe are using their 800 volt unit voltage doubled to run VHF amplifiers..
The tubes of choice are GI-7BT Russian triodes...These tubes are readily available from Dr Alex UR4LL for $25 each..A pair of these triodes are good for 800 watts output on 2 meters and 432mhz.

The 800 volt toroidal transformer from AnTek is only $98..They are beautifully made and very compact... Good

    Great topic.

I'll add the top three "full line" distributors:

    Mouser Electronics -- http://mouser.com/

    DigiKey Corp. -- http://digikey.com/

    Newark Electronics -- http://www.newark.com/

These companies all support huge inventories (all online) and are used by many commercial electronics labs (but they'll take anyone's credit card). Save a tree and tell 'em NOT to send you a catalog.

Yeah, their catalog kills at least one... You could kill a person by wacking them on the head with it too. I get several catalogs from them a year it seems, addressed to myself and several past engineering staff members.

Seriously. Last Newark catalog I got was like the NYC phone book -- a few thousand pages of fine print. Don't need it - they do a good job online with links to datasheets and everything. I think I finally got all the catalogs turned off.

Then, there's packaging.... I love Newegg, but....

We should find a way to keep this thread "links only" or something. Luke...??
