People who equate the separation of military families to the separation of families seeking a better life in the US are morons!
This is why I hate social media and these lousy memes. They create false equivalencies and over simplifications of things that are much more complex. As you pointed out the set of circumstances is quite different between someone going off to the military versus forcible pulling a family apart. Further they require the assumption that if a certain condition is okay in one circumstance then its okay in every circumstance. So why not pull all children away from their parents once they reach about 5 years old. They could be placed in education camps where they are given food, clothes, health care, education, be taught a trade, learn a profession, are trained for military service, put into work, military service or wherever they are needed whence they are of age.

It's ok, I do too. I think most people with a brain do.
Plus you'll be denied a cover because you had a pre-existing condition.

You just jogged my memory of a movie I saw over the weekend, Colonia Dignidad. Separating families, living in cages (or locked down in dormitories), complete control over minds and health. A lot of parallels between the movie and the current situation.

The KGB under Stalin's auspices used to arrest children and remove babies under the slightest pretext. The individual government members responsible had a habit of "disappearing" when Stalin died and a slightly more enlightened regime arrived.
