A big problem is, as proven by the Bush/Gore "Chad counting" circus, that elections are easily skewed, manipulated and 'adjusted'. At the very least, they are stymied, delayed, contested, blocked, lawyered-up and riddled with propaganda because the billionaires that own the country are not going to sit back and let a bunch of peasants make their decisions for them. How many rules were changed in the first 24 hours of this absolute farce of a presidency by the McConnell gang? Rules that were put in place to help the regular people, like us, and the environment...but would take money out of their pockets. They have a serious sickness and they are turning us against eachother because it buys time. Every minute, every hour that we spend arguing and name calling fellow countrymen, they are getting miles ahead of us so when we finally do figure out that we've ALL been taken for a big fucking ride, they have firmly cemented laws in place that will prevent us from doing anything about it. It stinks of Chinese political structure in the making. Yes, go vote, and vote for the ones who speak what you are feeling, but dont be surprised if its nothing more than pissing in the wind. I am still going to vote, but I will no longer choose a "lesser of two evils".

    Then, theres this guy.....

Independent and 3rd party don't/won't work in national elections until all the local governments are run by independent law makers.
UNTIL THEN, in the national elections, vote straight blue across the board.

How about a law that says that you can not run for office for at least 10 years after you have not belonged to or follow any political group? And while I have a wish list all laws are applied to congress and senators as well as the people. No exemptions. And bills that are for one item only, no loading up bills with pork. I know they would never kill the golden goose but one can dream.

The current situation is that we have been taken over by a bunch of radicals whose only aim is to destroy our government from the inside. I think our government IS screwed up and party doesn't matter. But I think there is more good than bad in our government, and that's where I part ways with the Teabaggers and the current criminal regime. Even the slightest attention reveals that this IS a criminal regime, and can't be allowed to operate unchecked. The Opposition needs to regain control of at least one house of Congress, preferably both. If not, I fear we are in real trouble. I think the Democrats could manage to blow it again in 2020, too. Notice that the Democrats have their own civil war going on now? How convenient for somebody.

The NHS system is funded by National Insurance deducted from income, usually at source, so there is no latitude for cheating. If you're a bona fide UK resident and have paid your National Insurance it's fine, but children and unemployed do still receive treatment.
Prescriptions have a standard charge but are free for children and over 60s. In Wales and Scotland this varies. Waiting times are variable, doctor's surgeries sometimes same day, hospitals next day but it's not always like this depending on treatment or requirements.
Overseas visitors receive a bill for urgent treatment, this is flawed in some hospitals because many visitors go home leaving the bill unpaid.

I never received a bill for my treatment when I was there with a case of strep throat. All they took down was my name and the hotel I was staying in. It was a tremendous experience - I got to see the doctor in a matter of minutes without having to produce my insurance card and/or prepay for the service. I think I paid 6 pounds for the prescription at the local chemist. Once upon a time, for most working Americans, it worked much that way. You employer paid for insurance, and at most, you had to present your insurance card for treatment. But, when Richard Milhous Nixon was president, we started to try to 'control' medical expenses. Prior to that time, it wasn't even legal here to profit from providing medical care. Nixon changed all that. He and the owner of Kaiser created the 'HMO' or Health Maintenance Organization. HMOs could be employed to 'manage' health care costs for employers. The employers would pay the HMOs a fee to provide insurance for their employees, and the HMOs got to keep whatever wasn't spent on that medical care.

This was the road to Hell. HMOs quickly found ways to increase their profits, at first by denying valid claims. Then, however, they conspired with medical groups, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies to increase their profits by increasing the 'book value' of the services and drugs they paid for. In order to line their own pockets, hospitals created books of 'standard charges' which were not at all related to the real amount they paid to the HMO (or insurance company). The hospital got more, the HMO got more, the employers got screwed, and so did anybody who paid cash. Over time, these costs exploded, with much of it going into the pockets of the insurance middlemen. Meanwhile, employers began to withdraw medical insurance, first by charging high prices for it, then simply not offering it.

What we need is a return to reality in regards to prices. Our government could do exactly that, just as many other governments do. But that is filthy. low downed communism! It is jack-booted thuggery. Or at least, that's what the insurance companies and the Congresscritters they own say - and they own most of Congress.

The principal sponsor of the federal HMO Act was Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (MA).
The great danger in movements to the Left is that the protagonists of the movement are so wrapped up with the end that the means becomes secondary.
