    Fldigi Help Needed

Hi: I am just trying to get started using Fldigi to decode some digital transmissions but am not having much luck...I am getting signals into the program from my receiver, but have been unable to decode any of them...Would someone take pity on me and give me a couple of good HF frequencies that are relatively easy to receive along with their modes so that I can at least see how the program works? Would really appreciate it...Thanks for the assistance!

    Suggest the Monday-Friday ARRL Bulletins

Some of the modes now are not in FLDIGI, yet.

I'd start with PSK, AKA BPSK31

Bolded in the quote balloon below, transmissions start with PSK on Tuesdays and Fridays
That should make it easier to figure things out

    Frequencies are 3.5975, 7.095, 14.095, 18.1025, 21.095, 28.095 and 147.555 MHz.

W1AW Daily Digital Bulletin ScheduleW1AW currently sends digital bulletin using 45.45 Baud Baudot, PSK in BPSK31 mode andMFSK16 in a revolving schedule.

Depending on the length of a bulletin, all three modes may ormay not be used on any particular day.
The modes used in a bulletin transmission are indicated at the beginning of the transmissionusing the first initial mode.
For example, on Wednesday - if two modes are to be used - thenthe callup will be with MFSK16.
The bulletin will follow first using MFSK16 then immediatelyfollowed by Baudot.

A sample callup is as follows:

Calling all Radio Amateurs. Calling all Radio Amateurs. This is W1AW in Newington, CT.Calling all Radio Amateurs. Calling all Radio Amateurs.
This is W1AW in Newington, CT.An official bulletin transmission follows using MFSK16, followed immediately by 45.45 Baud Baudot. This is W1AW

The following is the standard schedule (current as of 01/01/2012):

    MONDAY:Baudot, BPSK31, MFSK16
    TUESDAY:BPSK31, MFSK16, Baudot
    WEDNESDAY:MFSK16, Baudot, BPSK31
    THURSDAY:Baudot, BPSK31, MFSK16
    FRIDAY:BPSK31, Baudot, MFSK16
There is a lot of activity on 40, 30, and 20 meters, but it's all mixed with various digital modes
Using the ARRL Bulletins will help eliminate the guesswork
