    Looking for 6 meter rig

I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have an Icom 551-D 6 meter rig they want to sell?

I'll start looking. Someone had one at the Sea-Pac convention. I almost bought it just for the hell of it but didn't because it didn't pass the redundancy test as I have a 746Pro which I'm going to use for 6.

I thought I saw one on Craigslist around here, I'll take a look.

I expected Fred to jump in and say he has 3 of them, and he would be willing to sell me one.

I'm not the FredPat you're looking for, George. .

Why a -551D? I'm not sure how much those are fetching on the used market but there are a number of alternatives.

Can you use a transverter with your HF rig? Another possibility: Find an FT-726R w/ 6M module. Yes, I DO have four of those (2x HF/2/432 and 6/2/440). Get one cheap enough and it makes a decent VHF setup.

The 551 was 10 watts, the 551-d was 80. I already have two ICOM 706's that do HF/VHF, and 100 watts on 6. I just thought it would be fun to have another 551-d in the shack after all these years.

Got it. I'll keep my eyes open.

Another alternative: Yaesu Ft-650. 100w out on 12,10 and 6.

Nope but I miss my 271H. And I thought I would use a dedicated 6m rig once, which I never have and is why I have a TS-60 sitting on a dresser in my walk-in closet that may or may not work.

Nah, difference between you and Pat: You sell radios and gear excess to your needs. Pat hoards them.
