There's this big surplus warehouse up the road from me. Went in today and got 4 of these for 12 bucks a piece. They are high end 1970's CB hand mics made by Barjan and work great on HF. So I wired one up and got on the air!! Woo hoo!!

OK, so how did it work? I'm going out on a limb and think fine due to the Woo Hoo comment.
Oh btw, 3976 is a mess here that time of day - not hearing any of you at all. I hope the improvements I'm planning soon change that.

Google "Turner Super Sidekick".
Next, search for "Telex 752".
My current FrankenMic runs the base and preamp unit from the Turner and the head unit from the Telex. Granted, the same company made all of those (and a bunch more re-branded offerings) so it isn't like dogs and cats are fraternizing here in the shack...
To use a term which hails from the era of Mike's mic: The thing sounds 'bodacious'. At least that's what the area crew say about it.
I'd gladly pay the princely sum of $12 for what I built. Back in the day I traded a junker motorcycle for the Sidekick!
"Everyone wants to be an AM Gangsta until it's time to start doing AM Gangsta shit."
So. if it's noise cancelling it can't hear you fart? Convenient
