    Latest project

I just finished a restoration on a pre 1942 Sears Silvertone, wooden cabinet radio. A friend of mine picked it up for me in a thrift shop in Colorado. After a good cleaning, I replaced most of the caps , a couple of resistors, new tuning dial cover, power cord and re finished the cabinet. It's a 5 tube AC/DC with loctals. The audio quality is amazing.

Nice job, in those times they used big speakers and that was the good quality sound they reproduced as well the large wooden cabinet.

You do nice work, can you restore me?
I am surprised at such a sudden deterioration in a woman whose only ailment was a lazy anus.

    I love it!!! Nice work!

My first shortwave listening was done on a Grundig Majestic 7080- so I've got some appreciation for old radios.

    Your radio is simply beautiful...

Nice job, it's beautiful! And, yeah, you can't beat that tube sound.

One thing: I see that it's got a transformerless power supply. You probably already know this but make sure you have a properly installed polarized AC line plug on the thing. If you wire it backwards, the chassis will be hot with 120VAC!
Can we just jump ahead to the moment where a bearded Donald Trump is dragged from his hiding hole and we are hitting his fallen statues with our shoes?

Oh yeah. It has a new power cord and polarized plug, so it can't be plugged in the wrong way.

    I'm a restorer, not a magician.
