My partner and I are rather house poor right now. We own a home that was built in 1955, we make our bills, we put a little in savings each month, but we can't afford the gut job it would take to remodel the home into something we would truly be happy with. So we talked with a realtor this week, and found out that we stand to make a SIGNIFICANT profit because the market is so good. So we've decided to strike while the iron is hot and list our home.
We've also decided to full time it in an RV for a year to sock away an extra $500 a month in addition to our regular savings deposits. We'll be trading in our 26' trailer for a 33-36' trailer with slides and more amenities, and we've already searched out all the long term parks in our area. there is everything from coastal living, to country living, to even very near downtown.
He is very gung-ho on the idea, but I'm still somewhat nervous. The thing is, houses in our area have stayed on the market for 16 days or less over the last 6 months. Most comps in our neighborhood were on the market for 9, 4, and even 1 single day. So if we do list it, we need to be prepared to move swiftly.
