New Horizons just had it's close encounter with Pluto:
NASA has found many interesting and unexpected things, like ice mountains over 10,000' (3050m) high.
More cool images here.

All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.
Our newspaper gave us info that navigation data for New Horizons was supplied by a gentleman who works for our Dominion Astrophysical Observatory via the Canadian Space Agency.........most interesting as well, is the hope that the close photographs of Pluto will re-instate it's planet status as opposed to that ridiculous "dwarf planet" stupidity!![]()

It is truly amazing. Unfortunately, IMHO there might be more proof that Pluto is not one of us. Pluto's orbit that crosses through Neptune's seems to indicate that it was captured by our solar system. They are also wondering about the lack of cratering which might indicate that it was a more recent acquisition.

Pluto and Charon push the envelope of a moon/planet thang... it's more of a dual planet thang. :)
