Wear a Hawaiian shirt with stains and cheap sandals. You'll be left alone.

Well, that could be mighty uncomfortable.

Most people work UNDER the hood when they're doing engine maintenance.

I am now home from Da' Hood and it was nice. Several people saying hello and bidding me a good day. People helping a blind man get across the street safely. Seems the stereotypical image of "da hood" changes when you are actually in "da hood". There are soome damned nice people in "Da Hood"..

Yes there are. Years ago when I drove Yellow Cab in Minneapolis, I thought waiting line at the airport was ridiculous, after getting a run there. Would work my way back to the downtown core by doing grocery runs in the "hood/projects". The regulars got to know me fast, and I made more money that way. After a while I got invited to parties and an occasional funeral. I learned right away that "those people" were people, and just as nice and fun as everybody else, for the most part.

Yep, exactly my point and very much the same as my own experiences past & present.
