One Reason "Normal" People Think Hams Are Weird

My idea of a good way to spend my day off today was to erect a 32' (9.75m) push-up mast to hold one end of my 20m/40m skeleton dipole.

Another reason they think we're weird is that when we say “push-up,” we ain't talking about a type of bra.

Yeah, my wife's under wire bra is flat between 50mhz and 148mhz, but then so is my wife. Oops. Shit, never mind.

That is a good point. Does the "True" Ham still exist? At one time radio was it for an electronics fix. Then along came HiFi, TV, computers, Radio Control, Digital imaging, etc., etc. How many Hams today are in to computers, computer control, digital imaging, astronomy, radio control, drones and on and on. Calling ourselves "Electronics Geeks" might be closer to the truth.

True hams died off as soon as they stopped wearing three-piece suits to get on the air.

Who stopped? I still wear a shirt, tie, and a hat, and nothing else.

I'm glad I'm not on SSTV.

Well, I have to admit, the pattern in the tie doesn't show up very well.
