Steel wheels and rubber tyres,I prefer the ones that flatten pennies. I see the tendrils of a climbing vine, don't stand there too long or it will have you rooted to the spot. Those pictures of God's Country take me back to the days of The VXAmobile, when I got bored I'd just pick a direction and GO. So, I've never seen THIS road before, I wonder where it goes? Well, if it's a goin' uppa country so am I! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hf0Dm-OaTNk

How do you keep those bikes so CLEAN? I know, soap, water, lots of elbow grease and a dab of TLC polish. Just one thing, after all that work you forgot the pièce de résistance, your Magnum Opus, Armor All for the tires. Just sayin'.

No. Do not listen to the man with the wings, hoops and arrows. He only wants to see you get hurt.

Never put any Armor All or tire shine on your bike tires.

Please allow me to clarify. I never put anything on the tread area of automobile tires, so why would you think I'd put it on the tread area of bike tires?

You wouldn't, but there's a possibility that centrifugal force could migrate some of the Armor All to the tread area of the tire.

    Oh? Why?

My guess is in rain and snow it would reduce traction if applied to the tread, on a bike it could lead to a serious wreck... maybe, I don't know of anybody who ever did. Then why bother when friction would remove the shine in no time? Not to worry Che, it doesn't migrate, applied thinly with a rag there isn't enough if any after soaking into and bonding with a semi porous surface. When I used it there was only one product used to protect rubber and vinyl from drying out and cracking, it armored all hence the name. Now there are many products labeled Armor All ___ , my head is spinning.

Mine was only a guess based on the fact that the original product must have been an inert synthetic silicone oil, but since Charles raised the question he's best qualified to answer it.

On a bike, you lean. Often you lean beyond the tread area. The sidewall is considered a small part of your contact surface. Years ago I knew of one person writing about using it on his Ruckus. A Ruckus is a small, slow, 50cc vehicle. He reported that it was a disaster before even leaving the driveway. That was 10 years ago. Since then it made me observant of tires on bikes. Result: you don't see tire shine on bikes that are ridden.
The only time I've seen it used is on show bikes that are never ridden. I've looked at a lot of bikes. Taken a lot of bike pictures.
Please don't use tire shine on your bike tires.
