    Sleep Study

Welp, tomorrow evening I go in for my second sleep study. The first one was this past Sunday evening, and it was interesting. The facility was very nice and the people were great. Got all hooked up and was ready for bed. I was pretty tired too so I figured that I would be asleep in no time.

    NOPE!

If I would drift off to sleep, I would realize I needed to head to the bathroom to pee. When you do this, you have to let the tech know so they can unhook you. I would get back into bed and start to doze off. Then the tech would come in and have to adjust something. Grrr... ok, back to sleep (I hope). Nope, need to pee again. Same routine. Not very comfortable with wires hanging on you. Another adjustment.. another pee.

About 2:30 am, I had to use the restroom again, and I commented that the other folks there at the clinic was probably having a better time that I did. The tech mentioned that I was asleep a few times.

It sure didn't feel like it.

Tomorrow I am bringing my own pillows and not drinking anything all evening!

He might, and not know it.

My last sleep study, the tech kept waking me up every few hours, because there was a problem with one of the sensors. Ugh. Then the wondered why my results seemed inconclusive. (I wasn't supposed to over hear that). It's been a few years, I'm probably due for another one soon.

Yeah, they are suspecting apnea. I did realize how bad that can be for some. I don't think I have it as bad as others, but if wearing a machine on my head can help me in the long run, I am all for it.

My wife wears the machine so if I need to start wearing it, we will be the ultimate CPAP couple.

All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

That must take some getting used to.
I did my own sleep study. I concluded that all I need is 10 MG of ambian every nite.

I took mine in 2009. the techs gave me 2 tests. One without and one with the cpap. They said I didint sleep more then a minute at a time without the cpap. They said I slept all night WITH the cpap. I said "Are you SURE?" they said "Most Defnitley YES" I then went on to describe every TV show, over night movie, infomercial and sitcom I watched between 11pm and 5am when the test ended. They ignored what I said and continued to state that I needed it because thier test said I needed it. It was a total sham!

My cpap prescription was forced on me at a time when CPAP was all the rage because some famous football player kicked the bucket when it was thought he needed the cpap. It was a real political hot point especially in the trucking industry... Someone in the medical industry in Washington decided they needed to sell a million cpap units and couldn't figure out how so they got with lawmakers and came up with the plan to dump them on the trucking industry. No other industry in the US is as heavily regulated in the health dept as the the trucking industry is, so they jumped on that bandwagon.

It's gotten so profitable that all the major trucking companies actually have thier own sleep study facilities and force their employees to pay $1k for their cpap machine. The machine that they force you to buy lists for about $700 on sites like CPAP.com and other sales sites. Can you say CORRUPTION? Its a total rip when your employer rips you off like that. My company said that 70% of our drivers are on the cpap systems now. My employer has about 7k driving employees. imagine a $300 profit x 4900. Thats almost 1.5 million dollars! All because some football dude died cuz his neck was too big.

I know this post kinda wandered a bit but its just a frustrating subject to me.

Not saying you may or may not need as your situation is different then mine but I'd see about getting a 2nd opnion somewhere so you can make sure you're not getting ripped by greedy medical types.

I do wish you luck on your test.

The nurse just wanted to wake you up so you can take your sleeping pill.

After my last 2 weight losses, I discovered the apnea went away on it's own.
