Technological Times That Test What You're Made Of.

You ever see that Viagra commercial about not letting things get in your way, and how at your age, you know how to get things done? This is not about Viagra but, it is about getting things done.

It has been exactly three weeks since I last posted, that was the day that my Tech problems started.

    1. I changed cellphone providers to cut my bill in half; that was two hours of BS trying to get activated and payment was "Cash Only"
    2. I now have BS reception on phone and, no human voice to complain, only automated "Phone Help"
    3. Cannot use Wi-Fi- Calling or dial 911; store said that they could not help me and, "Phone Help" was no help. (Store said that I needed a higher priced plan!)
    4. Went to Facebook and PM the support team with a request for help on the third day. I patiently wait for a response; two weeks go by.

Meanwhile, I get this Phishy Email from my auto finance agency that forces me to contact them and they assure me that email was genuine.
    1. The Email received in September said that the October payment had to be mailed in and would not be deducted from by account.
    2. 30 days later, I call again to confirm that there was to be no ACH payment of my car note; again, I was assured. The check went into the mail.
    3. Three days later, they debit my account for two payments; my bank lists both of them as "Pending". I cry "Foul" and the transactions are on hold.

There was a Data Breach of their company in 2011; I was advised not to deal with that third party agent of the company but to use their secure website.

MetroPCS has not responded to my request so, I spam up their Facebook page with my disappointment with both their phone and customer service.

    1. I advised them that I did not have e-911 service nor could I use the network or Wi-Fi features of my phone
    2. After the third day of posting, they banned me from posting to their page (LOL).
    3. The SIM card that was used by metroPCS to activate was used and, had the contact info of 40 strangers; I paid for a new card.
    4. I sent text messages to all of the contacts whose information I had informing them and letting them of how and where I got it.
    5. The metroPCS dealer was flooded with calls from people looking for their stolen cellphone or wondering why their info was sold on a chip.
    6. The store clerk called me threatening to call the corporate office on me because of my actions; I begged her to do it and, i was waiting by the phone.
    7. I received a PM from Tech Support on FB and I responded and, my service problems were fixed.

So, all was good, the money was back in the bank, the phone was fixed and my complaining to the BBB and spamming up Facebook worked until,

    1. The power went out in our grid; went off suddenly, surged back on twice in the next 10 seconds and was out for 2 hours.
    2. All I had was a flash light and a transistor radio to keep me company
    3. The power was restored but, I lost a HP wireless printer and my Cisco managed Gigabyte switch was dead.
    4. I tried to use a 10 / 100 Mb 5 port Cisco workgroup switch; It could not carry the video signal from my TV server.
    5. It's about 9 p.m. Saturday night so, I pull my spare Cisco Catalyst 3500-XLS switch out of the closet and hooked it up.
    6. The switched worked somewhat but, I had forgotten the "ENABLE" password to get to the EXEC functions; went to bed!
    7. Early Sunday morning, I restored the switch to factory default. Then, I fine tuned it for my purposes (CDP makes work easy).
    8. Trashed the old one and got another spare 3500 switch in the closet.

Now, I didn't need a Viagra pill, just a lot of persistance; I'm gonna go use my amateur radio privileges.

I agree...the BBB & "social media" are 2 important weapons to have in our fight with "Customer Service"

We've had a whole slew of Metro PCS dealers/storefronts open up around here in the last couple of weeks.

Thanks for the tips. I won't bother with them.

It was more like a "Bad-Hair" fortnight; I left out the immeasurable anxiety, clothes wring and banking frustration. It was like throwing a rock into a quiet pool, you had the initial waves and then you had the interference waves coming back crashing into the others.

Life: It's all about how you deal with it.

Dunno how things go over there with online banking, but if I don't agree with money taken out of my account I can online book it back instantly.
And send a why I did that to the receiver of that money if I wish so.

But yes, reading your story was like reading a bad book....

If you were a Haxor and you acquired the computer records of over 420,000 customers, how would you exploit that information?

Well maybe the ol' tallywacker doesn't work as well as it did when I was 18, but I sure in hell know that bathing in two separate bathtubs is NOT the way to "get things done!"
