Well, here's something just a bit unreasonable...

Found this post in one of the ham radio FB groups:

    Hi

Also would like to give a BIG reminder to everyone that worldwide JOTA event 48 hours this weekend for scout and possible FUTURE radioamateurs !

To reduce interference with the participants of JOTA, contest operation is not allowed in the following contest-free sections.
DARC Germany WAG committee have made a list (as pdf):
    http://www.darc.de/upl…/media/WAG_-_...e_segments.pdf

    80m: CW - 3560 - 3800 kHz, SSB – 3650 – 3700 kHz
    40m: CW - 7040 - 7200 kHz, SSB – 7080 – 7140 kHz
    20m: CW - 14060 - 14350 kHz, SSB – 14100 – 14125 kHz and 14280 – 14350 kHz
    15m: SSB – 21350 – 21450 kHz
    10m: SSB – 28225 – 28400 kHz

I hope scout station not need to fight for the frequencies and to hear ANY bad behavior!

73 from LA6JAM/LI6JAM Norwegian scout station!

    73s the LB3RE "Rag" Stein-Roar Brobakken.
    QRV as LA6JAM/LI6JAM
So basically, someone thinks they have the authority to tell the rest of the world not to contest on entire bands? Take a good look at the above list of frequencies. No contesting allowed on nearly all of 80m, 40m, and 20m? Really?

JARTS RTTY contest is also the same weekend. Does this person actually think the above is going to fly?

This is part of the reason a lot of contesters don't take certain segments of the ham community seriously.

Oh, and the PDF linked to is behind a username/password, so you can't even see where they came up with this.

That's wack. I'm not even a contester but I'm tempted to get on the air and call "CQ CONTEST!" on every one of those frequencies all weekend long.
All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

That might explain why a lot of contest people seem to stay between 14.225-14.280, though I didn't see it stated on the CQP a few weekends ago.

I'd have to look at my log but I think I worked a guy on 14.315 which was an interesting one because of the usual noise at .313. But they had guys up and down the whole SSB portion, for sure. The only thing they stayed away from was the maritime nets on 14.300, I didn't see anyone get within 10 of either side of that.

    Let's not over-react, gang.

It appears that the DARC has indicated that they don't want people operating in the 2014 Worked All Germany (WAG) contest to use these frequency segments... specifically to leave room for the JOTA stations.

That's not the same thing as a frequency kop ordering people out of a self-designated no-contest zone.

It's their contest. It's their rules. And this self-imposed limitation only affects active participants in the WAG. If you're in another contest, this won't apply to you. And if you're doing any other kind of operating, this won't apply to you.

    So, what's the problem, again?

Umm, naa. Go down frequency and it's OK.
    USB and all that.
14.295, "the street corner" is left alone.

At least by the MM Net.

14325 has been activated for the Hurricane Net I guess as well. Gustavo has gone Category 4.
