Let's see how bad things are going into the home stretch...

    Right now:

    Athletics* 26 games over .500
    Brewers* 21 games over .500
    Angels 20 games over .500
Dodgers* and Orioles* 16 games over .500
    Tigers* 12 games over .500
    Nationals* 11 games over .500
    Giants 9 games over .500
    Pirates 8 games over .500
Yankees and Blue Jays 6 games over .500
    ------------------------------------------------------------no team at .500
White Sox 6 games under .500
    Mets 7 games under .500
    Padres 10 games under .500
    Twins‡ and Phillies‡ 11 games under .500
    Red Sox‡ 14 games under .500
    Cubs‡ 16 games under .500
    Astros 21 games under .500
Rangers and Rockies 24 games under .500

    *Best Record in their league
    *Leading their division
    Worst Record in their league
    ‡Cellar in their division

Could be worse. The Yankees and Dodgers are getting streaky right now.

EDIT: Corrected as per BeeSO's correct diagnosis.

I don't like it. Things just don't feel right when the Padres are not in the NL West cellar.
All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

BTW, your data is faulty. According to their official Web site, the Padres are ten games under .500 right now.

    Team Win Lose PCT. GB
    San Diego 52 62 .456 13.0

Could be. I figured take 10/2=games behind.

You are correct. Those numbers are .500 what they should be. Will correct.

no, no, Who's on... oh, forget it.

That said, those figures can't be right. The Pirates are only 2 1/2 games back of Milwaukee, so the Brewers can't possibly be that many games over .500 . Now, they were at one point, but they just lost a bunch of ballgames.

ESPN.COM this morning shows Milwaukee as 66 -53, Pittsburgh as 63-55

The Padres have been on a bit of a hot streak lately. They've won seven of their last ten games and are now "only" seven games under .500.

    Win Lose PCT. GB
    San Diego 55 62 .470 11.5

Typical modus operandi for them—suck all season then get hot at the very end, when it's too late.

The Boss & Little Miss Field are dealing with something that they never, ever faced before.

The Pirates are popular again. For the first time in 20 years.

Weeknight games used to sell 10K -12K tickets, and sometimes they'd be lucky to get 8K show up. Weekends were usually around 20K.

Now? Weeknight games are averaging 25 - 30K. Some have been sell outs. Weekends? If you're lucky, you can sometimes get SRO tickets; they've been averaging 35K. (A sell-out of PNC Park, incidentally, is about 37,500 tickets, not counting SRO -- they sell those only when all or almost all of the seats are filled)

In short, you can't just walk up at game time and get a good seat. Not like you could even 3 years ago. They are just plain NOT used to it.

I anticipate a price hike next year. So much for my last 3 raises...

Maybe you should take a shot at the spring tryouts. Families get in for free.......
