    Tony Gwynn, RIP

Hall of Fame baseball player Tony Gwynn died of cancer today at age 54.
All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

I found it hard to believe. It seems like just a few years ago he was playing the game and now he's dead. Amazing how many guys who played in professional sports are dying lately. And young too.

He died of cancer of the saliva glands, from years of chewing tobacco. Oral cancer. Again.

A great one, right in there with Kirby Puckett, another amazing ball player gone too soon.

Yep, tobacco got another one. Too bad, too; he was a good guy. He and his wife Alicia started up a charitable foundation that's done a lot of good in the community.
