Hi.
We in UK many years ago used an antenna/beam called a J beam 14Element Parrabeam .I always wanted to try one ,but now the only way is to make one.The Quagi.
Have read up on lte late Mr Cebik W4RNL and he felt there was some usefulness in them.
So I propose to build one for 2 and one for 70cms .
Any coments good or bad appreciated.

My only experience of the parabeam is from a friend that had a 2 meter version and seemed quite satisfied with it.
Later he went to a 6 element quad antenna for 2 meters, but the parabeam worked better in his opinion.
Looks like there is only one solution, build and test one ;)
My antenna's all were standard beams, now the Flexa Yagi 11 element for 2 and 23 element for 70, to be dismantled in the summer, because I don't operate there anymore bar the occasional use of a few local repeaters.
Fed with Ecoflex 15 I worked all Europe with that combo, including Portugal, Spain, Italy 2/70 in my active VHF/UHF days.
Now left with 5 element for 6 meters and H.F. antenna's6

Thanks for info I build my own now cant aford shop ones 30 yrs ago ran cushcraft boomer and 300w from SE London did pretty well,,or just 40Watts for local use. buld DK7ZB ants and now G4CQM yagi`s for 2 and 70cms. my 50Mhz ant is 5 Element.
HF I use H/B OCF Dipole 600ohm line,and play on Topband when there are contests in winter.

OCF with coil and extra wire for 160 -10, Inverted L 77 feet high and 77 feet to the side with 3000 feet copper wire in/on the ground, fed by MFJ 998 autotuner for 160 -20.
Vertical on the roof for 17 -10.
Konni 5 element beam for 6.
And some more stuff up on the roof.
Homebrew amplified loop antenna for listening in the backyard with long tailed pair BFW 16A transistors as amplifier driven far in class A.
On 2 I used a homebrew transistor amp, 2 x MRF 247 running 180 watts, 70 Cm 50 watts.
28 years back it was 2 x 12 element 2 meter beams fed by homebrew harnass.
19 element Tonna then for 70 cm.

A few years ago, I built a 10-element (I think) quagi for 70 cm out of 14 gauge copper wire and a hardwood dowel. It worked well—I could use my 2 watt VX-2R HT to hit our club repeater located about 50 miles away on Palomar Mountain.
All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.
Quagi... A local ham named Dave Quagliano built and named such a beast 25-30 years ago. He was me, my sister and my ex-BIL's instructor when we all got our ham licenses in the 80's.
Antenna? I thought it was some kind of a clam or mussel.
