A few years ago, I built a 10-element (I think) quagi for 70 cm out of 14 gauge copper wire and a hardwood dowel. It worked well—I could use my 2 watt VX-2R HT to hit our club repeater located about 50 miles away on Palomar Mountain.

All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.
