More on the net about him, disturbing actually.

We know for a fact that Rodgers was influenced by this movement, as he is subscribed to multiple "pick up artist" or "mens rights" channels on YouTube. (For those here that don't use YouTube, when a user subscribes to a channel, they receive notifications when that channel posts a new video.)
They include:
"The Player Supreme Show" which rails against the feminization of men and talks about how to pick up women.
"RSDfreetour" which is a series of self-help seminars run by RSD Nation, a "pick up artist" site.
There's also a user called McHenry Cruiser who in addition to being a pickup artist is a comedian who has some kind of beef with Louis CK, and another called "Squatting Cassanova," who seems to be your average PUA.

I'm still digging through some of the folks he's subscribed to.
He is what the Men's Rights movement calls an "Incel" which is short for involuntary celibacy. It's a hot topic in various parts of the manosphere.

Rather than seeking mental help for some obvious issues, he sought out the Men's Rights Movement. He watched their propaganda. He internalized their hatred of women. (There's no shortage of anti-woman rhetoric and nonsense. For some of the worst of it, check out The Red Pill's "Pussy Pass" forum, where they take isolated incidents, remove them from any rational context, and blow them way out of proportion.)

He listened to these guys talk about being hard, and tough, and true alpha men. He did what they told them, and began lifting weights. We know he had an account on body building forum which was recently deleted by their moderation team.

So this kid who needed some serious mental help sought out the destructive, BS views coming from the men's rights movement. He felt entitled to sex with women. He blamed women for not providing him with sex. He exposed himself to hateful rhetoric about women.

And then he acted on that hatred, and targeted college girls for a drive-by shooting, killed six, wounded seven, and then shot himself.
I don't think we should be at all surprised that when hateful rhetoric is trained on any group, lone wolves like this guy get triggered.

The Internet is probably the greatest invention to come along in ages. It is an amazing source of information and knowledge. Everything from free online college courses, high school and grade school courses, detailed info on a variety of subjects. It is also a news source, entertainment sourse, communications medium, etc. Unfortunately the Internet is also inundated with a lot of crap. Everything from medical quackery convincing people to reject real science based medicine in favor of pseudoscientific quackery, sites that encourage people to reject valid science and embrace pseudocience, conspiracy theories, deliberate misinformation, and worst of all sites that promote hate. You can find all sorts of hate on the Internet, everything from hating based on religion, race, nationality, occupation, economic status, sexual orientation and even gender. Most normal people are able to see these sites for what they are and reject them and their hateful ideas. But an abnormal and disturbed mind if not able to do this. esactly what happened to this young and seriously mentally disturbed chap. He thought the worked , and in particular women , owed him something. So he latched onto a gender based sited dedicated to the hating and dehumanizing women . Unlike a normal person who would dismiss this hate filled crap as pure rubbish this man embraced it to the point where he finally concluded that he must get even with women in general because they "wronged him" and didn't give him what he wanted. Instead of explaining to him to reach within himself to find out why he was not having relationships with women, instead of encouraging him to perhaps seek professional help for his depression or counselling they instead taught him that he was not at fault but rather women were the ones to blame for his own shortcomings and that he needed to project the blame onto all women and all men who can form bonds with the female of our species. The tragic outcome of this is obvious. But I often wonder how many people have been harmed or killed by all the quackery, misguided information, and pure hatred that is so often just a single mouse click away. And how many more will be in the future thanks to irresponsible people who have taken this wonderful informational tool and subverted it into a bastion of quackery, misinformation, pseudoscience, and pure unadulterated bitter hatred. Fortunately the good far outweighs the bad. But all it takes in one bunch of haters spewing their bitter hatred for their fellow man and one disturbed sick mind to form tragic results. It's really sad. How many more of these disturbed people are out there waiting to explode. They are like dynamite looking for a detonator.

He is the son of the assistant director of The Hunger Games. He was likely so offputting and creepy that women never called him back. His problems went much deeper.

But, of course...the comments section of Yahoo are full of idiots hooking their "Its the Libs fault" agenda on to it.

Like i said, she would have run the other way. It went much deeper than him simply needing to work on his finer points. He had everything he could ever want, it just looks like his wiring was all fucked up. Not everyone comes off the line with all their parts.

Utterly bizarre! I'm certain there are many more like him out there. I wonder how long before we have a wave of copycats? Men, it's time to arm your women folk.

Now, we could make some changes. But how do we stop morons from posting this kind of propaganda without violating their freedom of speech? I personally think that advocating hate crimes should be illegal, like yelling 'fire!' in a crowded theater. But that can easily go too far, too. Where do we draw the line? Furthermore, the most dangerous crazies have learned how to walk up to the line and lean over so far that their spittle falls on the other side, but not actually cross the line far enough to get arrested.

We could look more carefully for signs of this kind of insanity, and take more forceful action to deal with it. But there again, we have a whole army of folks who are concerned about the idea of the government being able to declare someone dangerous and lock them up before they commit a violent act.

I'm sorry to say I am starting to agree more and more with the NRA. They've managed to create an environment where any whacko can much too easily obtain powerful weapons, so more of the good people are going to have to carry guns just to defend themselves from the crazies. It's beyond the tipping point - short of mass confiscation of weapons, which will never happen as long as this is a democracy - there is no turning back. 'Gun free zones' are nothing but kill boxes for maniacs like this.

The reuploaded version seems to be unavailable as well. I clicked on it and I got the message "This video is not available in your country". My guess is that the cops who are investigating this case don't want it up there. Well, I saw the video once and once is too much for watching a video like that. It's both creepy and sad. A young man with a whole life ahead of him but with a sick brain, egged on by haters on the Internet is now dead along with the tragic loss of several innocent lives. Not the first time its happened and likely won't be the last. This country had better start taking mental illness much more seriously. Too bad someone didn't report this video to the cops. Perhaps they could have intervened before he had the chance to perform his sick and deadly deed. Or maybe people did.

Did I hear right that he stabbed his three roommates to death first then shot his other victims? I think the Internet with videos like that have become proof that Star Trek's NG Borg could never exist. A "collective intelligence" is impossible because it only takes a few @#$ up minds to ruin the rest of the collective.

The perp had previous contacts with police:

One of the other incidents occurred in January when he made a citizen's arrest
of his roommate for allegedly stealing three candles, and again in July 2013
when he claimed he had been assaulted. Police determined that Rodger
may have been the aggressor, Brown said.

Rodger was being treated by multiple therapists and was a student
at Santa Barbara City College, said family lawyer Alan Schifman.

Schifman said in recent weeks that Rodger’s parents were concerned
for their son's well being and reported his disturbing YouTube videos to police,
which lead to an investigation. According to Schifman, police interviewed Rodger
and found him to be “polite and kind.” He did not specify which
law enforcement division conducted the interview.
