Being an ICOM guy and all when it comes to HF radios...

I have been watching videos of the Kenwood TS-990... All I got to say is... "WOW!"

I am sure not everyone shares the same sentiment, but I watched the comparison to the IC-7800 and they're pretty close.

Doesn't matter. I can't afford either one of them!

I have an IC-7410 and that will have to do until my lottery numbers hit. Besides, my Lexus RX330 is 10 years old and has 146,000 miles on it so I will have to replace that some time in the next 10 years.

To be honest, my Yaesu FT 2000 - D does it for me.
Having the best radio with a excellent receiver needs the antenna farm going with it to compliment it.
I have middle of the road antenna's and the FT 2000 - D is a top of the middle transceiver so I'm set.
Looking back at the FT 847 with Colins filters I used before and now serves as spare rig, and the FT 100 mobile rig still used for 2/70 all 3 receivers really don't miss much, just the dual VFO and analog/digital receiver of the FT 2000 - D is giving me more ease of use and versatillety and the 225 watts output do help.
( or 75 watts Class A) driving the Heathkit SB-1000.

If you have the cash to splash go for it, I just hope you also have the antenna farm to go with it.

I have also noticed that is that the price of the '990 has dropped $400 in the last month here in the US.

I wish Kenwood would also come out with an 800 series rig for a few thousand less. I would like to see what features it would have.

Yeah, they are ridiculously expensive but they are sweet looking radios.

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a 7410 or even a TS-590S Would suffice just as well and I can move my 706MKIIg to my Honda van.

Teh Zed is holding a contest to give away a TS-990. If I were to win it, though, I'd sell it and put the money into a tower and antenna. My IC-746PRO is enough radio for me.

All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

IC-765 was a hard radio of its genre to beat. As was an FT-1000D.

I like the older stuff but if I was to buy new it would be a toss-up between a K3, DZ-Kit Sienna or a Flex.

    Having used a TS-990...

I'd sell it and invest in a couple of Elecraft KPA-500 amps for the Omni VI+ & Omni VII. Plus some new coax, and try to put up 50 feet of Rohn 25 with a Spiderbeam on top.

Check with Pat, he can probably help you out with the spiders.
