    What are these things?

I picked up a (free) box of largely obsolete ICs and transistors at my last ARC meeting. I'm in the process of cataloging what I have and have been mostly successful so far but these items elude me. They look like standard silicon rectifier diodes but they are completely unmarked (no cathode bar), conduct in both directions and are quite heavy for their size. Some sort of of UHF/microwave inductor or choke? A lot of the stuff seems to lean in that direction.

All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

Need an OHMMETER to see what the story is. Could be FERRITE chokes. If they measure ZERO ohms, then they are ferrite. If they measure higher but still the same in both directions, they could be MOVs or Varistors. If they have some directional Ohmage, then they just were never marked correctly or the bands are worn off.

Thanks, Pat. They measure zero ohms in each direction.
