No surprise there. Some of those turkeys are MEAN mothers.
And I do mean that literally.
Spring before last, we had a turkey fly into the fenced-in back yard. LucyFurr kept chasing her out, but she'd keep coming back in; bounced between our backyard and that of our neighbors, plus a sojurn to the area between the houses in front of the fence. Kept it up until we put Lucy in the house for her own good (she thought she was playing, the turkey wasn't). Next day, I'm walking Lucy, when we spot the same turkey up by the garage door of a neighbor's house... escorting a half dozen baby chicks. Mama spotted us, came down the driveway, and effectively lead us across the street & away from her chicks.
Seemed pretty obvious, in retrospect, that the chicks had to have been nearby the day before when mama turkey came after Lucy in the backyard.
