I can't help wondering - Wouldn't a creature that is constantly dripping slime like these critters, get dehydrated eventually?

It gets regular fluid infusions from it's victims.
All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.
I think some of our denizens here are dripping whiskey, and it hasn't affected them so far.
