Airbus has confirmed the all new A350 will make it's maiden flight today from Toulouse, France .

It will be in direct competition against the troublesome Boeing B787 Dreamliner, the B777, the A330, A340

Currently the sole engine supplier will be Rolls Royce with an updated Trent XWB Engine and the Carbon Fibre Wings will also be made in the UK

I was reading that Airbus is selling on the point that the A350 will do about 8% better in fuel savings than a Boeing 787 dreamliner ...... here's hoping it uses better lithium-ion batteries for power!
Why,driving into a brick wall at 60 miles per hour, would I expect it not to hurt!

Final assembly is in the Seattle area, but the sub assemblies are built all over the world.

Succesfull flight, no parts fell off and it landed fine.
It took off on time at 10am cet for a four hour fly-around and landed at 2pm back at Toulouse .

No batteries were hurt making the maiden flight ;)

Airbus just broke ground in Mobile AL (IZE's favorite town) for a final assembly plant of the A320.

Which was actually part of the problems the Dreamliner experienced. Many of the sub-assemblies were built by furrin companies who had no experience with building to the precise tolerances that Boeing required.
All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.
