    About my avatar...

It is the historic Hotel Chelsea and has had many famous people stay there. A short snippet from WiKi:

The Hotel Chelsea, also known as the Chelsea Hotel, or simply the Chelsea, is a historic New York City hotel and landmark, known primarily for its history of notable residents. Located at 222 West 23rd Street, between Seventh and Eighth Avenues, in the Manhattan neighborhood of Chelsea, the 250-unit hotel has been the home of numerous writers, musicians, artists, and actors, including Bob Dylan, Virgil Thomson, Charles Bukowski, Janis Joplin, Leonard Cohen, Patti Smith, Iggy Pop, Jobriath, and Larry Rivers. Though the Hotel Chelsea no longer accepts new long-term residencies, the building is still home to many residents who lived there before the change of policy. As of August 1, 2011, the hotel has closed for renovations.

Arthur C. Clarke wrote 2001: A Space Odyssey while staying at the Chelsea, and poets Allen Ginsberg, and Gregory Corso chose it as a place for philosophical and artistical exchange. It is also known as the place where the writer Dylan Thomas was staying when he died of pneumonia on November 9, 1953, and where Nancy Spungen, girlfriend of Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols, was found stabbed to death on October 12, 1978. Arthur Miller has written a short piece, "The Chelsea Affect", describing life at The Chelsea in the early 1960s.

The building has been a designated New York City landmark since 1966, and on the National Register of Historic Places since 1977.

Devon Wilson who was with Jimi Hendrix when he died, died herself a year later at the Chelsea after falling or being pushed out a window.
“The basic tool for the manipulation of reality is the manipulation of words. If you can control the meaning of words, you can control the people who must use the words."

Funny that the Wikipedia didn't mention my stay there back in '78.
All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

Can you imagine being his little kid, and having him tell you a bedtime story?

They did mention a while ago, but removed it when eveyone started dying off. You have that effect on people. Is it a gift or something?

Yes, it is a gift. BTW, when are you next coming to San Diego?

Headed for Austin the end of this month, then get back and finish up moving the business and selling the building, and then a drive by to your neck of the woods. Maybe July or so, maybe sooner if things go better than expected. Coincidentally, the XYL and I were discussing that very thing this morning. We haven't been there for a couple of years and are very overdue. When our daughter was living in Ocean Beach, and teaching in National City, we used to get there 2-3 times a year. What brought it up was I found a 2011 receipt in the truck from the HRO in SD for an RF adapter I had to buy since I forgot to take one with us.

I hope it's not attributable to the "Pope Carlo" effect...... I fear all those paranormal types would grab the ball and really run with it! :bfd:
