I understand completely. I tried that first but the local hams are all too cheap to pay what it's worth so I decided to go the eBay route. I really hated to break up the set but that's the only way that makes sense.

No, there isn't any profit for them when they buy it high locally then try to flip it on eBay.
I'm going to start listing unwanted stuff there as well and watch the inhabitants of certain (non-Island) ham radio websites get butt-hurt about it.
