Enjoy yourself. Who cares what some snot-rag who compartmentalizes what "amateur radio should be" thinks? There is always the Ignore feature on the forum.

During that same time frame I wired a couple interconnects, put a new rotary switch into a Dentron GLT-1000C, and ordered a shitload of parts from DigiKey, Allied, Universal, and RF Parts. I had a really good time. Suppose that someone might not think that this was ham radio.

Hope you had a good time too, and get over your outbreak of the Burts.

Give a man a fish, and he will eat it. Teach a man to fish and he will spend lots of money on tackle...

Don't like contests?? Go to the WARC bands... those were a lot of fun this last weekend and kept me entertained/occupied/awake at the wheel coming back from Regina... 12 was wide fuckin open!!!!!
Encrypt everything. Even if you have nothing to hide. It increases the noise floor.

Let's get the ARRL to have the WARC bands contest bands as well. It is obvious that contest haters have those options and don't use them in favor of just bitching about contests.

    Damn, I love ham radio.

Ham Radio was more fun before the intertubes. In the 80's, I didn't have to know how stupid a lot of hams were unless I looked for it on the various war zones. Now, I see it daily, on more than one intertube site. It's depressing.

I weaned myself of the zed a long time ago. I don't want to completely drop out of here, but it's tempting due to some posters I think are total idiots, which number about 2. Those two morons aren't going to harsh my buzz about ham radio. Contests rule. And those idiots aren't going to spoil my love of the radio because they're dumbases about other things.

It's 4 o'clock in the morning here. Sarah dropped about 2 hours ago and the bands are a bit dead. I think I'm done too.
Lew Black is my favorite, probably the best in the business right now.

HMMM. I guess you didn't read the entire post.

I said that the idiots WERE'NT going to ruin ham radio for me. And they don't.

    No Burtism here, station.

I had a fun weekend in the contest. Wish I could have done more contacts but I'm glad I participated. I think I even worked a new one!

Lewis Black is funny. I don't mind him.

No that won't happen. The WARC bands are by general agreement always contest free.
