    And I'm not sure you were wrong. Argo (the movie) wasn't bad, but surely not worthy of the hype.

    Agreed. It surprised the hell out of me when it won "Best Picture" over either of the other two nominees that I saw this year.
    All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

    There's a theory among snarky Hollywood-types that says everyone hates Spielberg and won't vote for him out of principle.

    I didn't see Lincoln so I can't comment on it but I did see Life of Pi and Beasts of the Southern Wild. Either one of those would have been a better choice for Best Picture than Argo. Of course, both of those movies were made outside the Hollywood ecosystem by indie film makers/foreigners which made them real long-shots—even if one of the foreigners was Ang Lee.

    Argo wasn't a bad movie, it just wasn't Best Picture material IMHO.
