    You have to give him a lot of credit for addressing AIDS when it was being vastly ignored by the Reagan administration. He was very matter of fact, he didn't agree with homosexuality but it didn't see that as any reason to ignore a health crisis as many did at the time.

    RE: Koop. You're right, he did the right thing with AIDS, which most fundies and Republicans were against at the time.

    I was not happy with his appointment at the time, but he showed he was non-partisan and didn't let his personal beliefs get in the way of helping the country.

    A good man who will be missed.
