Hey, that's pretty cool. I hear that Kentucky is also a hot spot for DX due to geography.
So, it's good that band conditions don't resemble the name of the state; Ill And Noisy. (;->) Well, at least you can get your WAS on 2M which is something I can't do here on the right coast.

Even moving from Kansas, there was a definite difference in DX contacts for me. In Kansas, I would not even hope to work DX on a dipole. In Illinois, Europe is almost simply easy.
Don't sweat those JA stations, Janet, you must have gotten plenty of that action when you were here on the left coast. I swear, I can copy JAs on my fillings.
We spent a bit of time in and around Rochelle back in December. The town and its surroundings remind me a lot of the Toledo area. Get around where we live at present and it's simply too hilly to put up a decent antenna unless you're fortunate enough to reside atop one of said hills.

Local op worked a ZL on 6M yesterday. I didn't have time to get on the radio and be disappointed when I couldn't hear the ZL though.
