Gerry, looks like winter is getting ready to hit us at last. From the San Diego NWS forecast discussion (sorry about the all-caps, that's the way they roll at the NWS):

LOOKS LIKE A MIDWINTER PATTERN SETTING UP NEXT WEEK ACROSS THE
WESTERN HEMISPHERE AS THE SHARP RIDGE JUST OFF THE WEST COAST KNIFES
NORTHWARD THROUGH THE YUKON...SETTING UP DEEP LONG-WAVE TROUGHS
NORTH OF HAWAII AND OVER EASTERN N.A. THE HIGH LATITUDE OF THE
RIDGING OPENS THE DOOR FOR UNDERCUTTING OF THE WESTERLIES ACROSS THE
EASTPAC LATER IN THE MONTH. THE LATEST GFS RUNS IN PARTICULAR
INDICATE AT LEAST THE POSSIBILITY OF A TROUGH DOING JUST THAT TOWARD
THE BEGINNING OF THE FOLLOWING WEEK (OR JUST AFTER THE MIDDLE OF THE
MONTH). OTHERWISE...THE WEATHER LOOKS DRY THROUGH THE EXTENDED
    PERIOD.
All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

Looks like you guy's are in for the deep freeze again.
Let me bask in + 13 C and sunny weather here please, no need of that stuff here, I was perfectly happy with last winter with no frost, no snow, no hail low energy bill, at 53 degrees up here ;)

Carl is right....to hell with El Nino..... winter is here. :-?

Today's NWS forecast discussion says that large-scale winter weather conditions for North America will begin to set up by the 18th of this month. They're predicting that storms out of the Gulf of Alaska will start hitting the west coast after that.

Do you still have that hooded parka, made from a water buffalo's ass, lined with the skin of a walrus penis, and trimmed in Bushtit feathers?

Well, of course. How could I live without it?
