Despite being in the midst of one of the worst droughts ever, this year San Diego County received the largest amount of summer rainfall on record—3" (76mm). The previous record was 2.13" (54mm) in 1977.
Typically, this area receives less than 1" (25mm) of rainfall in the period between the summer solstice and the autumnal equinox.
