A picture is worth 1000 words. A Two-Liter Empty Bottle of Dr. Pepper in the snow nearby. Bottle height 13"- top of bottle is even with the top of the snow. In the meadow, a bit of a walk in the snow, the depth is about 2 to 3" deeper.

Fiddy treeº and expecting 73º by the weekend.
    Merry Farging Christophas.

Traditionally we'd get some really cold days in December, 7 to 14 of them. Last year December was cold. January and February were warm and March was Quite Frigid and stayed that way until near the 3rd week of April. By May it was full blown Summer.

So, it's a tossed salad as to what to expect. We could get that snowy dip in Jan-Feb OR Mar.

No pictures needed. I know what I saw. Expecting a major thaw and return to summer temps for a few days. Will likely be followed by a sudden cool down resulting in yet another bout of high winds, thunderstorms, tornadoes followed by heavy snow and ice squalls.

Couldn't take pictures even if I wanted to. Power outages couldn;t recharge the camera.

We're a modern country here, we burried our electric lines last century in the 1930's or so and don't do power outages here.

Well, for the first day of winter, NYC will be 70 or so. We'll hit 66 here. Then, if the Weather Channel is right, we'll get one of those epic storms that you normally see around March. It will have torrential rains and winds.

Oh, and I saw a red-eyed rabbit clutching a watch and hopping to a rabbit hole. Really. Sorry no pics. Electricity hasn't been invented here yet.

Notice Monday. We'll be under the Atlantic from what I can figure from that icon...

You have Arctic air coming in from the North East and warm moist air off the the ocean from the South East.
No wonder the weather is expected to be phhhhhuuukked up North.

The weather over the next few days/week will be severe. We are going from arctic cold to tropic summer in a matter of hours. torrential rains, high winds and near tropical heat wave and hurricane conditions are headed our way possibly followed by blasts of winter cold resulting in severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, and derecho gust lines. I am bracing for the worst. We might see a wave before this is all over.
