    What RAM for my MB?

I have been using an ASUS M4A785-M motherboard for almost 2 years with 4 gigs of DDR2 667 Kensington RAM. That's all I know about the ram.
I want to replace the ram with something faster and more updated.
Been looking around the net and it is confusing me because I haven't shopped for anything in a couple of years so I haven't kept up with what is what.
What is the fastest RAM is recommended for my MB? If I can narrow it down to a type, I can go from there. Will PC3 type fit in the slot and work fine business?

    Your help is appreciated.

    You can use: 4 x DIMM, Max. 16 GB, DDR2 1200(O.C.)/1066*/800/667 ECC,Non-ECC

Basically, any DDR2 RAM, up to 1066MHz. Error Correcting, or non-error correcting.

Thanks. I kept looking that up and would get different answers.
    Dumb question, will PC3/DDR3 work?

I suggest this sort of RAM:

All the world’s a stage, but obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines. Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

To the best of my knowledge, no.

Thanks. I ask because it's so cheap and what I need, isn't.

One of the problems with falling a little too far behind the curve in the computer world. DDR2 was cheap about 3-5 years ago, when everyone was using it. Now it's DDR3. Once they start building systems with DDR4, you'll see the prices on DDR3 start to move up once DDR4 is commonplace.

Keep in mind also that if you go over 4 Gig, you'll need a 64-bit operating system to support it.
