Sad news. I was a major fan of Dave Brubeck since I was a kid.
I keep my 2 feet on the ground, and my head in the twilight zone.
Did anyone see the PBS special, "Dave Brubeck and Sons" on PBS sometime around '77-'78? Dave made a comment there between numbers where he said something like...
We need love. Love if far more powerful than anger.
Of course, he put it far more eloquently than that. Looked for it on YouTube but couldn't find it.

I remember a PBS special I saw in the early 80's that featured Dave among other jazz musicians/composers. But not the one you mentioned. I''ll keep an eye out for it, it would be cool to view that now. Dave was prominent at a good time in our history when a lot of musicians were also philosophical.Originally Posted by W1GUH

What a pisser. One of my HS teachers used to have a DB song playing every day as you entered the room. My favorite was, and still is, Take Five.

Take Five is cool, it's a tune that I like to whistle.
But this tune is more of a favorite for me.
Delightful and subtly complex. Perfect.
