I caught this in 2010 and it's no fun. The mutated flu that was supposedly only found in Northern Europe? I had it and after over a dozen antibiotics, it took 2 months to get rid of. It basically shut down my respiratory system, causing pneumonia, COPD, asthma, a viral infection on top of the flu. The viral infection was incurable and I had to ride it out for over 3 months. It cost me my job and I will have the complications that it left behind for the rest of my life. Which is why I find the CDC's description of this flu as mild more than a little suspect.
New Strain of Swine Flu going around. LINKA new type of swine flu has infected at least 145 people, mostly children, since July 12, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That's a significant jump from the 12 cases confirmed by the agency last week.
"We're seeing a big increase, and we think it's a real increase," said the CDC's Dr. Joseph Bresee in a Thursday update on the virus, which people have contracted after contact with pigs at county fairs.
